Jakarta, [6 July 2026] – Singapore Energy Interconnections Pte Ltd (SGEI) and Danantara Indonesia, through its investment arm Danantara Investment Management (DIM), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to explore cooperation in the development of cross-border electricity interconnections and related energy infrastructure between Indonesia and Singapore. The MOU was signed by Chief Executive Officer of DIM Mr Pandu Patria Sjahrir and Chief Executive Officer of SGEI Mr Ong Teng Koon.
2. The MOU was presented at the Singapore-Indonesia Leaders’ Retreat where Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong met with the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto in Indonesia.
3. Mr Ong Teng Koon, CEO of SGEI, said: “SGEI is pleased to partner with Danantara Indonesia on cross-border energy interconnections and related infrastructure. Interconnections are the critical infrastructure that enables electricity trade between countries. Together, we will explore potential collaboration on commercial and technical issues relating to cross-border interconnector development to support regional power trade.”
4. Amid growing regional efforts to strengthen cross-border electricity trading arrangements, this MOU supports the ASEAN Power Grid vision of enhancing energy security, resilience and sustainability through greater power system connectivity across Southeast Asia. The MOU builds on the growing momentum following the milestone ceremony at the Singapore-Indonesia Leaders’ Retreat in July 2026, which underscored both countries’ commitment to advancing cross-border electricity trade.
